Disposal Notice
Dispose of marriage thoughtfully:
Wrap hope neatly in old newspaper,
Shards of dreams padded and crushed,
Laughter diluted to one part per 1000
And buried in drums beneath concrete;
All trust to be burnt far from habitation,
Peace shredded, pulped and hammered flat,
Loved ones transported to remotest sites,
There broken up and recycled as someone else,
All identifying marks scraped clean, untraceable;
Joy extinguished except in small proportions;
Dismantle the poems, sell to the lowest bidder,
Now all your golden words have rusted out.
Make fires of it all along the beaches,
Warning those in current possession of love
To preserve, protect, bind and seal,
House safely; keep watch, cherish and maintain,
Maintain.
